THE Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Maharashtra has started an inquiry against retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nagesh Sambhaji Jadhav over a complaint filed by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Sunil Bhagwantrao Toke. Sunil Toke is a serving police officer and also a whistleblower.

On November 2, 2021 in an Right To Information (RTI) reply, ACP Vaishali Gorde of ACB replied to the RTI filed by Sunil Toke that inquiry against Nagesh Jadhav is in progress and that she herself is acting as an investigation officer in the inquiry. The statement of the accused is being recorded. Copy of the reply received to the RTI is available with ABI (abinet.org).

Sunil Toke had complained to the ACB against Nagesh Jadhav on 18 December, 2019, asking them to look into his Disproportionate Assets and property. On December 22, 2019 ABI had also published an article under headline, “ASI complaint to ACB, demands inquiry into Disproportionate Assets and Property of ACP Nagesh Jadhav,” highlighting this matter.

“I am also in the police department. So I am aware that Nagesh Jadhav was among the most corrupt officers in Mumbai Police,” said Toke.

As per Sunil Toke’s complaint Nagesh Jadhav’s property is as enumerated below:

1– On June 20, 2011, Nagesh Jadhav had purchased around 1 lakh 40 thousand Sq Ft of private forest land in Gat No – 677, Boradpada, Badlapur (West), Thane district in the name of his wife, Meena Jadhav. He constructed 1+1 RCC structure on the land and runs educational institutes by name Siddharth School and College under Namita Welfare Education Society.

2– A private bus and a four wheeler are being run, transporting passengers illegally in the name of an educational institute.

3– Nagesh Jadhav has also purchased another plot measuring 70 guntha, at adjusted gat No- 677, Boradpada, Badlapur (West).

4– However the way that transaction is structured is shocking and incomprehensible. Meena Jadhav sold the said land to herself, and purchased the same herself for Rs. 45 Lakhs, on May 26, 2015. It means that the transaction was of a circular nature where Meena Jadhav acted as both a buyer as well as seller.

5– Nagesh Jadhav is currently residing at Shri Sai Complex, Building No-5, Flat No-501, Sayani Road, Parel, Mumbai. The said flat is supposed to be worth Crores of rupees.

6– Nagesh Jadhav is running Jadhav Security Agency in his wife Meena Jadhav’s name at posh area of Dosti Acres in Wadala, Central Mumbai. He has purchased two commercial galas in Dosti Acres costing Rs 1 crore each.

7– Nagesh Jadhav purchased several acres of land at his native place in Bhokar, Nanded on his wife Meena Jadhav’s name.

Ambarnath police in Thane district in December 2019 has registered an FIR under sections 420, 465 and 471 of IPC against Meena Jadhav. FIR (MECR) copy is available with ABI. It is high time that this inquiry is looked into seriously and strict action taken against Jadhav if allegations against him have merit.
